Hands of Josephus

                                                   Hands of Josephus Book 1

Hands of Josephus is a series of five altered books created from distressed copies of Flavius Josepus' Twenty books of the Jewish Antiquities, The Life of Josephus and The Jewish Wars. Each page, cut in the shape of a hand is sewn on multiple beaded cords, then attached to wire hand forms encrusted with beads. Josephus was a first-century Jewish historian and Roman apologist who survived and recorded the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. His works provide important insights into first-century Judaism, while raising questions about who owns history.
